It's About Being A Blessing
It's About Being A Blessing
As I was traveling this last week, I found my mind racing on how I could provide for myself. I would be staying all night at a hospital for a few days with my sweet father and not being a night person myself, I was trying to decide on how to make myself more comfortable. The Lord so sweetly spoke to my spirit and said-"It's about being a blessing". It's not about whether you are hot or cold, hungry or fed, have a bed or a chair, it's about being a blessing. You know, I had to smile because the Lord was so right. I didn't need to spend my time concerned about myself because as I put my mind on others, the Lord seemed to provide for my every need. Sometimes it seems we are so concerned about being uncomfortable when really our comfort is in the Lord. Paul instructed us well in this area…
Phil 4:11-12 11: Not that I speak in respect of want; for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am in, to be content (at peace) 12: I know both how to be abased(humbled) and I know how to abound(to be rewarded, excel); every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
In other words it's not about my comfort all the time, it's about the need for the Kingdom and the Lord has a way of rewarding at His time. So, I guess we need to relax and go with the Holy Ghost flow and learn to be patient knowing… it came to PASS….
This brought to my mind about one of my favorite apostles, one that is not spoken of much but had the sweetest spirit, Andrew. He lived a life in the shadow of his older brother Peter; however, Andrew was the one that actually brought Peter to Christ. Of all the disciples, Andrew was the least contentious and most thoughtful. He and John became Jesus' first disciples and Andrew was so excited he wanted to introduce his brother, Peter. They actually then went back to their fishing career for months before walking into their full time ministry. You always see Andrew bringing someone to Christ, not a crowd, usually one at a time, very quiet and unknown by people. He was about -"just being a blessing". Andrew was the one that brought the boy with the loaves and fishes to Jesus to feed the 5 thousand. He is the picture of those who labor quietly in humble places. He was never jealous of his brother but knew his part and calling was different and he was Ok with that. Church history says he was crucified and hung for 2 days before dying for leading a Roman Governors wife to the Lord. He hung there exhorting people to turn to Christ for Salvation as he was dying.. He was truly a servant of the most high-I love this guy- and it ministers to me.
Mat 5:5 Blessed are the meek (humble) for they shall inherit the earth.
Mat 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.
So as you go about your day and life, always remember-"It's about being a blessing". There will be times when no one notices your efforts, it may even be your family, but our walk in the Lord is about being a blessing in any way we can. When you get frustrated and to the end of your rope-just get yourself another rope and keep being a blessing…..
May the Lord bless you today with His Spirit, I pray you feel the presence of the Lord today and every day and you find yourself falling more and more in love with Him as you are about the Fathers business- just being a blessing…..
